Robinson Older Adult Ministries (ROAM)

With aging members of our congregation and in our community, Robinson Elmwood deliberately looked at ways to help improve the quality of life. We have had different initiatives to suit the needs of the community at the time, and will create more if there is interest. Here are our current ROAM initiatives.

ROAM Programs are suspended indefinitely due to COVID-19.

Dave's Cookin'

12:00 pm on the 3rd Monday of Each Month*
In this gathering of old friends and new, professional chef and caterer Dave Forrest creates a delectable meal for all who attend Dave's Cookin'. After we eat, we share a short program with the attendees. We look for programs that are of interest to older adults - from information on health and well-being to history to parties and games.

Cost for lunch is only $6.00. We ask that people sign-up in advance so Dave knows about how much food to cook. You can contact us or give us a call if you want to join us!

If you have a program you would like to present, please contact us or give us a call. We're always looking for new speakers!

*Except in cases of Holidays - Watch our Calendar for dates

Blood Pressure Checks

12:00 pm on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of Each Month.

For many seniors, blood pressure monitoring is necessary. We have a team of three nurses in our congregation who will take blood pressures after our worship services on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. Best of all, these checks are FREE!

Line Dancing

Tuesdays at 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm

Finding time to exercise can be difficult, but we try to make it fun with Line Dancing! Barb Kriesel, an older adult herself, leads a beginner class at 1 and a more-experienced class at 2 every Tuesday. Classes are FREE and drop-ins are welcome

Syracuse Home CAre

Syracuse Home Care provides financial support for our ROAM programs.
One of the pains of getting older is not being able to get around as much or as often. Syracuse Home Care, initially called "Robinson Memorial Community Services" or "RMCS" grew out of a need to help our aging congregation and community stay in their own homes.

Housed in our building, Syracuse Home Care provides non-medical care for seniors and busy adults across Syracuse. Services include running errands, providing transportation, laundry, or just simple companionship. Housecleaning services are also available at a higher rate.
